ICC
The ICC’s (Industry Consultative Committee) role is to provide a consultative platform for industry on specific issues of the day and advice to the Australian Wool Exchange (AWEX) Board and Management.
The ICC is an important committee that considers specific issues and comprised of invited members including experts, in a particular field, and/or representatives of a cross section of the wool industry including Wool Growers, Brokers, Exporters, Processors and Private Treaty Wool Merchants.
Additional members may be co-opted to ICC to ensure that a suitable knowledge/expertise base is available to consider the wide-ranging agenda items. Similarly, industry-based working groups may also be utilised to help underpin the operation of the ICC.
During its operation, ICC may seek submissions (written and verbal) from both the Australian and International wool industry. These consultative opportunities ensure that the ICC has access to appropriate/relevant information and industry views, which are required to formulate sound, industry-based recommendations for the AWEX Board.
In its role, the ICC gives consideration to the following broad topics:
- AWEX Standards and Codes of Practice,
- AWEX Registration, accreditation and licensing programs,
- AWEX Education and Training issues, specifically those supporting accreditation and registration procedures,
- AWEX Quality Assurance programs, and
- Other relevant matters relating to industry standards and services.
Over recent years the ICC (including co-opted members and working groups) has overseen a diverse range of industry issues including the:
- review of both the Wool Classer and the Classing House Codes of Practice for Clip Preparation
- review of the National Wool Declaration and its Integrity Program, and
- eBale and wool pack standards.
